How To Create a Culture In Marketing

Use Stories

No, we're not talking about Instagram stories. We're talking about real, visceral stories that connect people within your company to one main goal. Having a story to tell about your brand or business can be helpful in many ways. Not only does it give your employees something to live by when they are working, but it also helps your customers connect with your business better. Why did you start your business? What inspires you? How have you evolved and where do you want to go?  All of these questions are crucial to ask to help you develop a story for your brand or business, which brings us to our next point.

Have Transparency

Today's consumers like to know as much as they possibly can about the businesses they buy from. In the same way, employees love to know as much about their leaders as they possibly can. In the current state of the world, it seems as though every instance of communication has a looming agenda. In times of uncertainty, thinking about that can be quite frustrating. A company's ability to be honest and vulnerable when sharing its story, triumphs, and failures, can be incredibly rewarding in the end. As a leader, you need to be honest with your employees about your hopes and fears to nurture the best culture possible.

Have Fun

Always make sure to have fun when it is relevant! Do you have virtual meetings that you take place in? Consider having themes for every virtual meeting! Start with stories or jokes. Allow others to be involved and give everybody a shot with the "microphone." Just as your employees likely want to feel more involved, so do your customers. Create a culture in marketing that feels inclusive by getting down and dirty. Respond to customers, have Q&As, or go live every once in a while to show people what you've been working on.

Bottom Line

The idea of building a strong culture has changed quite a bit since the introduction of the pandemic, though with these steps above, you can help restructure your company culture to build a stronger community to propel you forward.
